Deck the Vberg Halls

It's Christmas time at the Vanden Berg household. Our humble tree turned out well. The popcorn garland was Bill's idea. I can see right through him however....he just wanted to 'help', which really means 'eat'. Yeah, that took awhile. Thanks, Bill, for all your help. Sheesh.

Moving on, I'd like to show off these 'ULTIMATE Sugar Cookies'. That's what the recipe is called anyways. They were a hit at the church potluck on Tuesday. Not one left much to Bill's dismay. And you know it's a keeper if Lena Friesen asks for the recipe. It's funny how the Bergie cookbook is full of recipes with titles such as, 'World's Greatest Meatloaf', or 'Best Ever Brownies', or in my case, 'Ultimate Sugar Cookies'. And it's even more funny how I always make the recipes with those kind of titles. I have yet to be disappointed. I think Denyse's Thumbprint cookies should be called, 'Denyse's Superduper Thumbprint Cookies'.

Here we have a picture of a plate of Christmas goodies that someone (who will remain annonymous) brought over today. I'd like to give you a tour. To the far left are chocolate covered cherries....but in between the chocolate and the cherry is a layer of peanut butter. Crystal, just so you know, it tastes pretty bad. You wouldn't like it. The second from the left is a square made with mini mashmellows, rice krispies, smothered in a peanutbutter/butterscotch filling. Again, Crystal, it's pretty awful stuff. The third from the left are Rolo cookies. Yes, that's right, there is a Rolo in the centre of a chocolate cookie. But as we all know, Rolo's are HORRIBLE. Whoever would come with such a terrible idea? Ruining a perfectly good cookie with a Rolo center. Sheesh. And finally, to the far right we have Fudge Puddles. That would consist of a peanutbutter cookie base filled with a pool of fudge on the top and topped with a peanut. Yeah, I may as well throw those in the garbage. Disgusting.

Bill wanted me to give a greeting from him. He says to say, 'May your days be merry and bright and may all your christmas's be white.' (if you ask me he's going a little overboard with the Boney M, but hey, he's discovered them for the first time. Who can blame him?)

Ugh, those pictures just about made me gag. Thanks. And Bill, don't worry about your obsession with Boney M. When "Mary's Boy Child" comes on, I have no choice but to get my groove on. So rock it out.
